In 1986, a clinical trial of chiropractic was undertaken in conjunction with medical doctors at Taegu University in Korea. The experimental design included blind assessment of patients by a multidisciplinary DC-MD team to determine the degree to which chiropractic is effective. Chiropractic care was contrasted with sham adjustment using a crossover method. Demographic information and the subjective results of the care of the first fifty subjects are presented.

Chronic low back pain associated with leg pain was the most commonly presented complaint. Subjective results were favorable toward chiropractic, with 36 of the 44 patients who completed the study reporting improvement in their condition.
