Abstract/Notes Excerpt: Performing ROM analysis of the cervicothoracic region requires an inclinometer and a goniometer (Fig. 1). These tools will be used to measure lateral flexion and rotation, respectively, of the head and neck. Four primary global patterns of asymmetric range of motion, as well as suggested manipulative procedures, will be described in this article. It should be noted that these named manipulative procedures are often deployed to correct putative misalignments, whereas in this article they are recommended to correct motion restrictions.

In addition, although this article emphasizes manipulative approaches, these would be supplemented by soft-tissue interventions, including active and passive stretching. Mobilization techniques using the same vectors would be likely to achieve parallel results.
