Abstract/Notes

A case is reported in which an 18-year-old female presents with a history of thoracolumbar pain of approximately one year's duration. The clinical picture included a long "C-shaped" scoliosis with pain which was intensified at night and was relieved by aspirin. Roentgenological examination revealed characteristic signs of an osteoid osteoma. A review of the literature is presented and the significance of painful scoliosis is discusses.
