Abstract/Notes

Objective: To report the outcomes of a female with renal cell carcinoma and sleep disturbances undergoing subluxation based chiropractic care.

Clinical Features: A 24-year-old female diagnosed twice with renal cell carcinoma presented with severe low back pain, neck pain, significantly decreased quality of sleep, anxiety and stress. She presented for chiropractic evaluation and possible care. At the time of initial examination, the patient was undergoing medical treatment for renal cell carcinoma one-time per week by taking Nivolumab, Lenvatinib, and Axitinib. She was also on the kidney transplant list due to this being her second diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.

Intervention and Outcomes: The patient was cared for using upper-cervical Toggle adjustments to address cervical subluxation. Within 4 adjustments the patient reported complete resolution of symptomatology and increased quality of life including sleeping a full, uninterrupted 8 hours of sleep through the night.

Conclusions: This case reviews a significantly increased quality of life in a young, female cancer patient undergoing specific chiropractic care. Further investigation needs to be conducted to further evaluate the use of chiropractic care as the core of a healthy lifestyle to increase health, well-being and longevity.
