Abstract/Notes

Throughout the history of chiropractic, there has been competition and conflict on the basis of each of the three factors defined by The Founder as “philosophy, science, and art.” This paper examines one of the most historically significant of these controversies—the “structural” school as advanced by Willard Carver, and B.J. Palmer, who formulated the “segmental” approach to chiropractic. The influence of neo-Carver advocates is also discussed.
