Abstract/Notes After I finished writing the previous installment of this series, I found another major published commentary that examined the efficacy of DMSA/DMPS from both diagnostic and treatment standpoints. As you will see from the title, "Mercury Exposure: Evaluation and Intervention - The inappropriate use of chelating agents in the diagnosis and treatment of putative mercury poisoning", this paper takes a fairly negative stance on the use of these chelating agents. In this section, I would like to offer the authors' comments on diagnostic applications. I will present their comments concerning treatment in the next newsletter.
