Abstract/Notes Spraker examines the relationship between chiropractic and the polio vaccine of the 1950s. Hysteria associated with this widespread disease combined with various beliefs concerning the efficacy of vaccination to create a controversial issue. How chiropractors voiced their concerns as key drugless practitioners illustrates the broader historical conflicts between alternative healers and regular doctors.
