Objective: Multidisciplinary care provided to a patient who presented in a chiropractic office with a diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder is described.

Clinical Features: A three-year-old male had subluxations, positive neurological exam findings and delayed attainment of developmental milestones. His history was positive for a reaction after the Measles Mumps and Rubella (MMR) vaccine, delayed speech, head banging, irritability caused by routine sensory stimuli and analgesia. Evaluation revealed right hemisphericity. Further testing included a urine porphyrin analysis and cholesterol levels that were below the normal range.

Intervention and Outcomes: Subluxation based chiropractic care was performed to reduce / eliminate presence of subluxations. Care included manual muscle testing (MMT) to identify subluxations. Pulse oximety was preformed pre and post adjustment. Comprehensive approach included Nutrition Response Testing (NRT) to address functional physiologic imbalances through nutritional supplementation as well as incorporation of exercises and adjustments based on the hemispherical model. Dietary modifications were also made. Patient demonstrated increased oxygen saturation, improved communication, fine and gross motor skills, level of engagement and sensory integration as a result of care plan.

Conclusions: Patient demonstrated considerable improvement through subluxation based chiropractic care. Acceleration of this improvement was noted with implementation of comprehensive protocol.
