Abstract/Notes

Objective: To discuss the positive health outcomes following chiropractic care of a pediatric patient suffering from headaches and enuresis.

Clinical Presentation: A 7-year-old female presented with a chief complaint of headaches of three months duration. Palliative or provocative maneuvers for the patient’s headaches were unknown and more frequent during the day when the patient was at school. The patient’s headaches were characterized as mild to moderate. Consultation with a pediatrician resulted with advice to increase water intake and Tylenol. Tylenol provided only temporary relief. The child additionally suffered from enuresis.

Treatment and Outcome: The patient was cared for with the Gonstead Technique. Care was scheduled at two times per week for 10 weeks. Following the first 4 visits, the patient reported a decrease in headache frequency. By the end of week 10, the patient reported no more headaches. Care continued to one time for 7 weeks and at the end of 7 weeks the patient continued to be free from headache attacks. Parents also reported that her enuresis had decreased.

Conclusions: This case report provides supporting evidence that children suffering from headaches and enuresis may benefit from chiropractic care.
