Abstract/Notes

Objective: To describe the successful health outcomes following chiropractic care of a pregnant presenting with low back pain.

Clinical Presentation: A 28-year-old female at 31-weeks gestation during her 2nd pregnancy presented for care with complaints of low back and right sacroiliac joint pain. According to the patient, her pain complaint began one week prior after picking up her 2-year-old child. Pain was indicated at 5/10 and occasionally at 7/10. Self-care involved the application of heat, rest and online stretching for the low back which were ineffective.

Treatment and Outcome:  The patient was cared for with the Webster Technique scheduled at once a week for 3 weeks. The patient’s low back complaint was ameliorated along with improved ROM.

Conclusions: This case report provides supporting evidence that pregnant patients suffering from LBP may benefit from chiropractic care utilizing the Webster Technique.
