Abstract/Notes

Objective: The purpose of this report is to report on the outcomes following subluxation-centered chiropractic care in a patient with Crohn’s disease.

Clinical Features: A 60-year-old male diagnosed with Crohn’s disease presented with symptoms of abdominal pain and cramping, stiffness all over his body, diarrhea and a generalized feeling of sickness. The patient’s symptoms were of insidious onset beginning six years prior. He was taking multiple medications that he did not feel were helping. At the time of presentation, the patient was unable to go more than one hour without an incidence of symptoms. Examination revealed subluxations at multiple levels and a poor diet.

Intervention and Outcome: The patient underwent conservative subluxation-centered chiropractic care receiving adjustments via Full Spine Diversified technique. A functional nutrition approach to his diet was also utilized. The patient reported immediate relief following his first and second adjustments with complete resolution of Crohn’s disease over the course of care. He was able to stop taking all medications.

Conclusion: Chiropractic care in conjunction with dietary changes proved to be highly effective in not only alleviating symptoms but also in restoring proper intestinal gut flora. After nine months of care, the patient experienced complete remission of his diagnosis per his endocrinologist.
