Abstract/Notes

Abstract: The flood-prone banks of the mighty Mississippi River up to the top of Brady Street hill in Davenport, Iowa, served as the epicenter of a new profession at the start of the last century. The competition to establish new schools and directions for the profession were fought along a stretch of road approximately half a mile long. Multiple institutions claim their start adjacent to this bumpy bricked street. Some of them or their descendants are still with us today. From the profession's genesis along this short stretch of road, many of the same challenges were and are replayed on countless roads throughout the world. In the sphere of chiropractic history, all roads still lead back to the top of Brady Street hill.
