Abstract/Notes

Objective: This case study investigates the outcomes of subluxation-based chiropractic care on the management of a 64-year-old male diagnosed with persistent atrial fibrillation.

Clinical Features: A 64-year-old male patient presented to a chiropractic office with a history of long-standing atrial fibrillation and complaints of general fatigue, tachycardia, dizziness, weakness, and shortness of breath occurring three to four times per week for up to seven hours at a time. The patient was also experiencing right elbow pain and occasional low back pain, mid back, and neck pain. The clinical impression for this patient was vertebral subluxations of the spine with postural imbalances, as well as previously diagnosed persistent atrial fibrillation.

Intervention and Outcomes: Interventions included chiropractic adjustments utilizing diversified spinal adjusting technique and toggle recoil adjusting technique. Additional care included the use of Active Release Technique and Graston Technique. The patient has experienced complete resolution of atrial fibrillation and associated symptoms.

Conclusion: This case study assesses the application and outcomes of subluxation-based chiropractic care for a patient experiencing persistent
atrial fibrillation.
