Abstract/Notes

Abstract: From the early days, patient testimonials and endorsements of the chiropractic profession by influential people were used to destigmatize and increase awareness of chiropractic. This was especially true for the Palmers who recruited stars of the big screen to become advocates for chiropractic. Two valuable individuals to the cause were actress Bessie Love, who got her start during the silent film era, and her father, Dr. John Cross Horton, who was one of the earliest graduates of the Radledge Chiropractic School.
