Objective: To describe the treatment of a patient with occipital neuralgia using low-level laser and spinal manipulation.
Clinical Features: A 57-year-old female had an acute presentation of frequent, paroxysmal, shock-like pain in the suboccipital region, consistent with a diagnosis of acute occipital neuralgia.
Intervention and Outcome: She was treated using low-level laser in the occipital and suboccipital regions, and with spinal manipulation in her cervical spine. She was symptom free after the third visit.
Conclusion: Treatment of occipital neuralgia responded favorably to nonsurgical interventions of manipulation and low-level laser.
