Abstract/Notes

Inflammatory chemicals are the key mediators of pain and disability associated with radicular and neuropathic pain syndromes. These chemicals are released centrally and peripherally immediately upon tissue injury and continue to be released due to up-regulation of specific genes. Reducing inflammation rapidly by blocking gene expression and modulationg the eicosanoid pathway is crucial to preventing excessive tissue damage, pain, swelling, scar tissue, collagen and disc degeneration accelerated aging and future disability.
