Abstract/Notes

Introduction:  There are many entities which manifest radiographically as causes for low back and leg pain.  I will attempt to review systematically some of the more common clinically encountered abnormalities seen on plain film radiographic studies.  Additionally, I will introduce, with exemplary case studies, supplementary imaging modalities such as isotopic bone scans, vascular studies and computerized tomography.  To facilitate a systematic approach to a given radiographic abnormality I will present a categorical system based on the seven categories of bone disease:  (i) postural, variants, congenital; (ii) arthritide; (iii) trauma; (iv) vascular; (v) infection; (vi) neoplasia; (vii) nutritional, metabolic, endocrine.
