Abstract/Notes | Surface recording of gastric motility (electrogastrography) was performed on four subjects using standard instrumentation and methodology. Data from thirteen recording sessions revealed that manipulation to the first cervical vertebra was associated with an increase in the basic gastric tone (p<0.01) as well as a "normalization" of the wave patterns. The small sample size precludes major conclusions, however the observation is supportive of a proposed objective of spinal manipulation.
