Abstract/Notes | Abstract: The objective of this study was to assess the experiences, attitudes, and opinions of a sample of chiropractic students toward research, and to suggest possible solutions to their self-reported barriers. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on students at a chiropractic college using a self-administered, online questionnaire utilizing a 5-point Likert scale ranging from “strongly disagree” to “strongly agree”. Descriptive statistics were utilized for data analysis. Results: Two hundred and ninety-three responses were included. Most students demonstrated interest in publishing research, but few had actually done so. Students showed positive attitudes and a good understanding of the importance of research in the chiropractic profession, that teaching research methodology should be a part of the curriculum, and that conducting or publishing research during school is important. The two most significant barriers to research were the lack of communication regarding opportunities to conduct research while in school and the lack of research opportunities. Students reported various additional barriers that impacted their progress in performing and publishing research. Conclusion: Students had positive attitudes toward research and publication, yet the presence of many barriers may impede their participation in research-related activities.
