Abstract/Notes

Objective: This paper presents the chiropractic management and care of a 5-year-old female with clinically significant scoliosis, vertebral subluxation complex, poor sleep, and headaches.

Clinical Features: The patient presented to the private practice and a thorough history and examination including analysis of vasothermal instrumentation, static x-rays, and video fluoroscopy using the Pierce Results System™ (PRS™) was performed. A thoracolumbar scoliosis was found along with multiple vertebral subluxations.

Intervention and Outcome: After using the PRS™ of analysis the patient was seen seven times before their first reassessment, the patient received two cervical adjustments. At the reassessment, approximately twenty-eight days after beginning care, she had an improvement in thoracolumbar scoliosis, decreasing from 13° to 0°. The patient received no traction, nor did she perform any corrective exercises. Subjectively the patient responded to care very well with a reduction in headaches and improvement in sleep.

Conclusion: Objective, quantifiable measures of scoliosis were improved in a relatively brief amount of time with conservative utilization of the PRS™ chiropractic analysis to address the vertebral subluxation complex. No other modalities or treatments were necessary to produce improvement in thoracolumbar scoliosis measurements.
