Abstract/Notes

Objective: To describe the chiropractic care of a patient with Meniere’s disease (MD).

Clinical Features: A 64-year-old female presented to a chiropractic office with neck pain, headaches, arm weakness, vertigo, and anxiety. She had also been suffering from Meniere’s disease for three and a half years.  Chiropractic exam revealed a vertebral subluxation at C1, with a listing of ASR.  Cervical x-rays, neurocalography, orthopedic testing, and visual analog scale assessments confirmed this finding.

Intervention and Outcomes: Knee Chest upper cervical specific chiropractic care was provided over 14 months.  The patient experienced a significant improvement in symptoms of MD, vertigo, anxiety and headaches.  She experienced overall better health including increased strength, energy, and a more positive mental outlook.

Conclusion: Knee Chest upper cervical specific chiropractic care was utilized on a patient diagnosed with MD of three and a half years duration. More research is warranted to fully understand the role chiropractic care plays in managing patients with Meniere’s disease.
