Objective: To describe the positive health outcomes following chiropractic experienced by a woman suffering from non obstructive urinary retention. 

Clinical Features: The patient presented with a history of chronic urinary retention that was non-responsive to medical interventions. Upon physical examination the patient demonstrated decreased AROM in the cervical and lumbar region. Lateral cervical X-rays showed a severely decreased cervical curve of -13 degrees. The AP lumbar view showed left rotatory scoliosis with an apex at L3 and a Cobb angle of 10 degrees. Vertebral subluxations were identified. 

Intervention and Outcomes: The patient was placed under corrective care utilizing Chiropractic Biophysics technique for a total of 24 visits over 60 days. Her plan consisted of spinal adjustments, cervical curve traction and wobble board each visit. Pre and post X-rays were taken of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. On the 23rd visit post X-rays showed a -5-degree cervical curve improvement and the lumbar scoliosis Cobb angle reduced to less than five degrees.

Conclusions: The 61 year old female reported on in this study experienced a resolution of her urinary retention, improved cervical curve and reduction in vertebral subluxations. Her spinal pain complaints improved as well.
