Abstract/Notes

Objective: To report on the positive health outcomes experienced by a patient who presented with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and generalized cervical pain following trauma. 

Clinical Features: A 75-year-old female presented to a chiropractic center with complaints of vertigo and neck pain after falling out of her bed onto a concrete floor.

Interventions and Outcomes: A thorough exam and history were performed on the patient upon arrival. The patient then received specific chiropractic adjustments utilizing Diversified technique. Upon the sixth adjustment visit, the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions were adjusted per protocol; on the next visit the patient revealed that her symptoms of vertigo had dramatically decreased from a 10/10 to a 0/10. 

Conclusion: Chiropractic care was shown to be beneficial to a patient with benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and cervical pain. More research is needed to evaluate the role of chiropractic in patients with complaints of vertigo, dizziness, nausea, and nystagmus.
